Love is in the Air

Hello and welcome to a very special Valentine’s post! Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you out there! In honor of Valentine’s Day, I thought we would do a little something special today. Today will be all about music… well, love songs. How romantic, right? Maybe some of the songs we discuss will be nice as a little background music for your candlelight dinner, or however you celebrate Valentine’s Day. There are so many love songs out there, it’s hard to choose a favorite.

Since there are so many good love songs out there, I actually had to pull up a list of some. As I was looking down the list of songs, there were some I’d never even heard of, some I had forgotten about, and some I love (yes, pun intended). The first song that I came across on the list, that I had forgotten about, is Love Me Tender by Elvis Presley. Hearing and reading the lyrics makes me think how sweet this song is. It’s a good song. I do enjoy this song and I had completely forgotten about it until I saw it on the list.

Now, since there are so many love songs out there, I won’t be able to go through all of them. I’ll just be picking some here and there that I think would be great songs to help celebrate love. The next song is one of my favorite love songs. It’s (Everything I Do) I Do it For You by Bryan Adams. I have always loved this song, but I think I enjoy it more now, after one of my favorite TV couples said it was their song. It had been their song since they saw the movie Robin Hood Prince of Thieves together, for the first time. It is such a lovely song. I believe this song will stand the test of time. It is a great song.

Another great love song is this duet by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross, Endless Love. It’s amazing how love songs can say so much in a very short amount of time. They not only can tell a story, but they express how much they love the other person. In kind of a weird way, any time I hear this song come on, I always think of that one scene in Happy Gilmore, when Adam Sandler’s character takes Julie Bowen’s character to the ice rink and the lights go out. After the lights go out, the song comes on, even though they agreed they would only hang out as friends. Regardless of how you know Endless Love it is still a great love song. You can add that one to your Valentine’s playlist… if you have one.

Okay, to be honest, I struggled in choosing some songs for this post, because there are so many to great ones to pick from. So, I had to get a vote from my friends and family members. One song they voted that they liked best was Always and Forever by Heatwave. I just want to thank the people who helped me with the voting. Looking through comments and reactions, most people had just a hard of a time as I did. Regardless, thank you for your assistance. Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton came in a very close second, behind Heatwave’s Always and Forever.

As I mentioned, just before, I needed some help by getting a vote by my friends and family. I gave them two different surveys to vote on. I separated the group of songs for them to vote on, by era. Anyway, the song that won this vote is All of Me by John Legend. I do agree that this is a very good song. The way he sings it is so sincere. However, Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars lost by just ONE vote… JUST ONE! Both songs are very good. Now, you see why I had such a hard time choosing songs for this. I believe all of the songs that have been mentioned are all fantastic in their own way.

Now, to try and close out this little love fest, let’s end with one from good ole blue eyes himself… Frank Sinatra’s The Way You Look Tonight. Aww, how sweet right? I think this song would be a great way to end the night, don’t you think? Or, heck, it could even be a great way to start the night. I would totally make a Valentine’s playlist with all of these songs on it, with a whole bunch of other great ones, too.

Okay… I’m sorry, I know I said I was going to end with ole blue eyes, but I have a bonus song up my sleeve. The bonus song is from the king himself… Mr. Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love. This song was the song that my parents danced to at their wedding, for their first dance. Such a good song.

Anyway, thank you for joining us today. I hope you all have a safe and wonderful Valentine’s Day however you celebrate it. Happy Anniversary to those who are celebrating an anniversary and Happy Birthday to those who are celebrating that as well. Until next time… take care.
