Hello everybody! How are you all doing today? I hope you’re all doing well. I apologize for the late post. I didn’t realize, until I was already falling asleep, that I hadn’t written a new post for you. Well, here is a new one for you. I hope it’ll be a good way to start off your weekend, or to help continue the fun you’re already having. Today’s topic is about hobbies. Now, I decided that I won’t just focus on one hobby. I will talk about some of my favorite hobbies. You may have the same ones I do but you also might have ones that I do not.
To get things started, here are some of my favorite hobbies; I enjoy sports, watching movies, playing a variety of games, music, arts and crafts, watching tv, and of course baking. For those of you who have been following me from the beginning, you’ll know that I have played a handful of sports. I already shared my experiences with soccer, basketball, and tennis. I do enjoy watching sports on tv, but I would much rather be outside participating in sports. I’ll go into more detail in the future when I talk about a particular sport.
We all enjoy watching movies, right? Well, I was once a film major. I thought I wanted to go into the film industry. It didn’t matter to me what it was. I actually wanted to become an actress, but I would have been happy with behind-the-scenes production too. I took film classes to learn about editing, directing, writing for the screen, and working in a studio. I took acting classes since that’s what I thought I really wanted to do. It wasn’t until 2016 that I started writing and my goal changed. Anyway, that’s beside the point. I do still enjoy acting, but I would much rather sit at a desk to share/tell stories.
When it comes to games, there a MANY too choose from. There are card games, board games, and video games. Not only that there are many of those types of games to choose from, too. I’ve already done a post about one board game (there will be more to come in the future). I do enjoy board games, especially when it’s a game night, whether with friends or family. It’s loads of fun and brings great laughter. I’ve also done a post about a video game (more of those to come). It’s hard to say which types of video games I enjoy playing the most, since I have a few different types. I have a couple sports games, some simulator games, I also have some adventure/story type games too. I don’t think I have yet done a blog post about a card game. Have no fear, I will share stories on those in future.
What about music? There are a variety of genres of music out there. On my playlist, I have a pretty decent range of genres. I have Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Backstreet boys, and Disney. Those are just some of the artists I have. As you can see, the music I have goes from the 1940s to present day. The only time I listen to classical music is when I’m writing, doing some reading, or doing any type of studying. I actually play music. I participated in school bands since I was in 5th grade (10/11 years old). There were two bands I was in that weren’t school related. I played in a community band that is located within a retirement community, where I played trombone and percussion. I was also in the band at my church where I sang and played the electric bass.

Now, what about arts and crafts? There a many of those out there too. You can color, paint, build, sew, knit, crochet, needlepoint. Those are just of the few things you can do. I love doing arts and crafts because it’s a way for me to be creative, especially when painting, color, or doing a collage. There are so many different ways to do something, so a particular project you have in mind will not have the same result. I made name signs for two of my friends who had babies last year. The idea for both babies were the same, but obviously the result was different because it was made specifically that particular baby. One was a boy, and the other was a girl. I painted their names on the signs and gave them symbols or designs that would be fitting for each of them. It was a project I really enjoyed doing, since it was not just for being crafty, but also as a special gift for people I care about.
I haven’t been able to watch tv much in the last year. Well, now that I think about it, I haven’t watched much tv in the last few years. Sure, there are some shows that are currently airing new episodes that I’ll watch from time to time, but I usually have them saved on DVR. I don’t really watch live television anymore. I think it could be because of my work schedule. I am usually getting ready for bed when the primetime shows come on, so I don’t really get to watch them. Then I come home from work when everybody else is leaving for work. But to be honest, I’m okay with not watching live television. If I watch something that has been recorded, I can fast forward through the commercials and pause it whenever I need to. Then of course we have the streaming services. I don’t use my streaming services all the time, but I have them there whenever I’m ready for them. Although, I have been watching some of my tv shows that I have on DVD recently. I’m almost finished getting through The Golden Girls (I’m on the final season). To be honest, I enjoy watching the older tv shows. Pretty much shows that came out in the 60s all the way up until the 90s. I suppose you can say I have an old soul and I’ll agree with you.
Now we come to baking. I have been baking for as long as I can remember. I believe I was 4 years old when I first started baking. I love baking. It’s probably my favorite hobby. I love the way the house/kitchen smells when something is baking. I have baked a handful of things; I’ve baked cakes, cupcakes, pies, and cookies. Cookies are my specialty. I mostly bake cookies, which I love doing. I’m not sure what it is about baking cookies, but it’s my favorite thing to bake. I only bake pie around the holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas). If you’re just joining us, welcome, and you’ll find that I have posted 2 posts previously on a couple of cookies I’ve done. When people are wanting cookies, they usually ask me to make some, which I’m always happy to do.
Thank you for joining us today on this slightly different post. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Take care.
