Fore!

Hey everybody! Welcome to today’s post. I hope you all had a good weekend. Today we will be talking about sports; more specifically we’ll talk about golf. I understand that this may not be everybody’s cup of tea. Golf isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. I decided to do golf for today’s post, as the Masters Tournament was held over the weekend. Let’s begin, shall we?

Before you ask, yes, I have played a round of golf. However, I only played that one time, but I look forward to playing again soon. I own my own set of clubs and try to go out and do some hitting whenever I can. It is surprisingly therapeutic. I tend to overthink when I play sports, so I listen to some music or play a movie while I’m at the driving range. I’ve noticed that when I go hit at the driving range, I’m pretty consistent on distance. It doesn’t matter which iron (club) I use; I seem to hit the ball the same distance, give or take a few feet.

When I went to play my only round of golf, my drive wasn’t good. I think I did pretty well on my putting. To be honest, if I had to guess where I’m strongest, I think it’s my short game. If I had to guess why my short game is the strongest, I think it’s because of when I took golf during middle school PE. The field we used wasn’t big enough for us to go for distance. The teacher would set up cones at different distances, to act as the flag where the hole would be. It was a fun class to do; I really enjoyed it, as it helped with accuracy for my short game.

Now, when it comes to the drive, I’ll be perfectly honest, I have not yet used my driver or my 3 wood. I have used my 5 hybrid club, but I have only used it once. I can get a pretty good distance on it, but I’m not consistent in hitting the ball straight. The next time I go to the driving range, I’ll have to practice with those clubs that I haven’t used. I think on another level on why I haven’t used those other clubs is because I’m afraid. What am I afraid of? I honestly can’t tell you, because I don’t know what or even why. I’m no professional golfer, but I do like playing for the fun of it.

There have been times where I’ll go to the driving range after I get off work, so I can hit. I’ll go to hit for the fun of it and to try and relax a little after getting off shift. Although, there were a couple of times I went after work because I was stressed and upset about what happened during the shift, that I just needed to go hit something to release some of that energy, so I wasn’t taking it out on anybody who didn’t deserve it. After being out on the range for about 15 minutes, everything that was built up had been released. For the time I had remaining I was hitting much better, because the stress and anger was released.

I have taken my camera with me to the driving range, so I can record myself and do any analyzing. To be honest, I have not yet watched any of my footage. I have seen a photo of myself in mid-swing, and it looked amazing. I was really impressed with the form of my backswing. I always had this sense that I had a decent backswing, but I never knew how good it really is until I saw the photo. I guess I just need to keep practicing so I can improve on my downswing. Hopefully I can get out to the driving range soon, so I can not only practice, but also have some fun. The more I practice, the more I won’t have to yell, “FORE!”

Thank you for joining me today for this short post. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Take care.
